“I spend my time on things that make me lose track of time. I spend time with people who truly care about me. I enjoy the quiet and slow life. I trust myself to say ‘no’ when I need to.”
I recently read Leo Babauta’s Power of Less and was very much inspired by its message about living life simply. I definitely recommend the book. I also recommend reading his blog, Zen Habits. It is a great resource for learning how to simplify your life.
One of his posts linked to another blog’s suggestion about creating a simplicity statement to guide your endeavor to simplify. The above is my simplicity statement. I’m finding out that living up to that statement is really a process rather than some ultimate final goal that I must reach NOW. If that was the case, I’d never reach that. But, I’m working on it.
Great Simplicity Statement–clear and positive focused. I agree with your point about it being a process and not necessarily an ultimate goal. I often think about it as more of a mantra, an ongoing reminder to keep my actions and intentions in integrity with my heart.
